What does a social worker do?
Please note there is currently a waitlist for social work services.
Social workers play a vital role in promoting healing, stability, and empowerment. Social workers provide trauma-informed care that addresses both the physical and emotional consequences of these experiences, while helping survivors navigate complex systems and rebuild their lives with dignity.
- Provide trauma-informed care and emotional support, walking alongside survivors throughout their healing journey with empathy, consistency, and care.
- Coordinate access to essential services and advocate for survivor’s rights within legal, healthcare, and social support systems.
- Educate survivors on the impacts of trauma and concussion to support informed decision-making and self-awareness.
- Develop individualized safety plans that prioritize survivor’s ongoing protection and emotional well-being.
- Refer survivors to specialized services, including financial assistance programs.
- Support recovery planning by helping survivors set meaningful goals, build resilience, and regain independence.
What does an occupational therapist do?
Please note there is currently a waitlist for occupational therapy services.
Occupational Therapists (OTs) help people do the everyday activities that matter to them—like working, studying, cooking, or enjoying hobbies—especially when health challenges make those activities harder.
Occupational therapists can help you:
- Identify what tasks are challenging and why
- Explore strategies to manage symptoms like fatigue, memory, or sensory sensitivity
- Recommend workplace accommodations as needed
- Support communication with employers (if desired) to help create a more supportive and accessible work environment
The goal is to support people in living as independently, safely, and meaningfully as possible—at home, at work, and in the community.
What does a vocational rehabilitation specialist do?
Vocational Rehabilitation Specialists help survivors find and maintain meaningful work that fits their goals, abilities, and circumstances, especially when trauma or life challenges have impacted their career path.
- Assess skills, interests, and career goals
- Explore job opportunities that align with their strengths
- Develop job search skills like resume writing and interviewing
- Connect with employers and community resources
- Access training or education programs when desired
When it comes to employment support, vocational rehabilitation specialists can help survivors:
- Identify career paths that match their interests and abilities
- Navigate workplace accommodations and employer communication
- Build confidence and skills needed for job success
- Find flexible work options that support their healing journey
- Connect with trauma-informed employers who understand their needs
The goal is to support survivors in achieving economic independence and finding work that contributes to their healing, stability, and sense of purpose in the community.

In addition to fostering peer support, the program will include mindfulness meditation for brain health and may feature presentations from experts in field of financial health and well-being (i.e., vocational rehabilitation specialists, employment counselors, financial literacy experts, etc.).
